Ancelotti Highlights Rear-line performance despite winning over Leverkusen
Bayern Munich start the Bundesliga or the highest caste of the German League 2017-2018 with a 3-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena Stadium, Friday (18/08/2017) or Saturday morning GMT. A good move to defend at once to aim for a sixth straight title.
The Bavarian opened the lead with the action of two new players, Niklas Suele and Corentin Tolisso, respectively in the ninth and 19th minutes. Another goal was scored by Robert Lewandowski through a penalty execution in the 53rd minute, before Leverkusen’s once backed by a powerful kick by Admir Mehmedi (65 ‘).
The victory is certainly a positive result. But the team’s performance has not made coach Carlo Ancelotti satisfied because the former Paris Saint-Germain boss and Real Madrid is assessing Mats Hummel et al did not look solid to dampen Leverkusen attack.
When viewed from statistical data, this is true. Leverkusen has more chances with 16 shots.
It’s just Leverkusen’s effort was hampered by the final settlement. There were only four shots on target and only one goal.
“A tough game and indeed our team has not done a good defense coordination yet.” Bayern’s defensive performance has left too much play space for opponents, “Ancelotti told Kicker.
“However, it is very natural to happen in a period like this, it is the beginning of the season, it all starts from scratch and we have to play more closely,” he said.
